Message to Martin Valley and Ocean Falls
Attention Residents of Martin Valley and Ocean Falls
We understand that being under Evacuation Order and Alert is stressful and unsettling, especially given the uncertainty around the current flooding and landslide risk in the area due to the Atmospheric River on March 15, 2026. Please know that your safety is our top priority.
The CCRD Emergency Operations Centre is activated to support the response. We are actively working with our partners to assess risk and better understand the situation. These assessments take time, especially with current weather conditions and the remoteness of the community.
Residents may see contractors and equipment in the community. At this time, only planning work is being completed and machinery is being staged; however, no response work has been authorized by the Provincial, Regional, and First Nations governments at this time.
We are committed to sharing information with you as quickly as we receive it. Updates will be provided as soon as they are available so you can stay informed and make the best decisions for yourself and your loved ones.
Emergency Support Services (ESS) remains available in Ocean Falls at the Old Bank Inn from evacuated community members. Food and shelter are available for residents who are under the Evacuation Order. For additional information about ESS, residents can call 250-982-0062.
“Our priority right now is public safety and getting the best technical information available. The purpose of this work is to understand the risks and explore how the community can be made safe, so that residents can continue to call Ocean Falls and Martin Valley home.” – Steve Emery, Area A Director, and Vice Chair of the CCRD Board
If you have any questions about the flooding or landslide risk, please call our Emergency Management Program at 250-799-5291 or email info@ccrd.ca.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work through this together.
