NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of the Central Coast Regional District intends to adopt “Central Coast Regional District Electoral Area ‘A’ Civic Addressing Service Establishment Bylaw No. 555, 2025” (“Bylaw No. 555) to establish a civic addressing service in Electoral Area ‘A’.

FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the CCRD Board may proceed with the adoption of Bylaw No. 555 unless, by the deadline, Elector Response Forms are certified by the Corporate Officer as having been signed by at least 10% of the electors of the Central Coast Regional District – Electoral Area ‘A’ (the “jurisdiction”) indicating that the Board must obtain the assent of the electors (referendum) before proceeding. Elector Response Forms must be given in the form established by the CCRD Board and will be provided to electors of the jurisdiction upon request. A copy of Bylaw No. 555 is available for public inspection on the CCRD website at www.ccrd.ca, and at the Administration Office of the Central Coast Regional District located at 626 Cliff Street, Bella Coola, BC, V0T 1C0, from  March 30, 2026 to May 8, 2026 during regular office hours: Tuesday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, excluding statutory holidays. Elector Response Forms can be obtained on the CCRD website at www.ccrd.ca, and at the Administration Office of Central Coast Regional District located at 626 Cliff Street, Bella Coola, BC, V0T 1C0, Phone 250-799-5291, from March 30, 2026 to May 8, 2026 during regular office hours: Tuesday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, excluding statutory holidays.

Deadline

Signed Elector Response Forms must be received by the Corporate Officer at the Central Coast Regional District located at 626 Cliff Street, Bella Coola, BC, V0T 1C0 before 4:00 pm on Friday May 8, 2026, to be counted. The Elector Response Form may be submitted by email to pharding@ccrd.ca or by fax to 250-799-5750.

Alternative Approval Process

The only persons entitled to sign the Elector Response Forms are the electors of the Central Coast Regional District   Electoral Area ‘A’ (the “jurisdiction”), which is the area to which the approval process applies. Eligible electors are persons meeting all of the following Resident or Non-Resident Property Elector qualifications:

 RESIDENT ELECTORS:

To register as a resident elector, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older; and
  • Be a Canadian Citizen; and
  • Be a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before signing the Elector Response Form; and
  • Be a resident of the municipality or electoral area; and
  • Not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or be otherwise disqualified by law.

NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY ELECTORS:

To register as a non-resident property elector, you must:

  • Not be entitled to register as a resident elector of the municipality or electoral area; and
  • Be 18 years of age or older; and
  • Be a Canadian Citizen; and
  • Be a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before signing the Elector Response Form; and
  • Be a registered owner of real property in the municipality or electoral area for at least 30 days immediately before signing the Elector Response Form; and
  • Not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or be otherwise disqualified by law.

In addition, for non-resident property electors:

  • The only persons who are registered owners of the property, either as joint tenants or tenants in common, are individuals who are not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust.
  • If more than one person is the registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector.

No corporation is entitled to be registered as an elector or have a representative registered as an elector, and no corporation is entitled to vote.

For the purpose of conducting this elector response opportunity, the total number of electors is determined to be 211. If less than 10% (21) of the electors of the jurisdiction sign and submit an Elector Response Form to the Central Coast Regional District by the deadline, the CCRD Board may proceed to adopt Bylaw No. 555. If 21 or more electors sign and submit Elector Response Forms by the deadline, Bylaw No. 555 cannot be adopted by the CCRD Board without obtaining the assent of the electors (referendum).
