CCRD Evacuation Orders in Martin Valley and Ocean Falls Lifted
Central Coast, B.C. – The Central Coast Regional District (CCRD) is advising residents that the State of Local Emergency and Evacuation Orders associated with the March 15–16, 2026, atmospheric river and landslide events for the east side of Martin Valley and Ocean Falls have been lifted as of April 9, 2026. The Evacuation Alert for the west side of Martin Valley has also been lifted.
Residents of Martin Valley and Ocean Falls who were under Evacuation Orders or Alerts may now return home. Please use caution when returning. The area experienced significant flooding, and conditions may have changed. There is still a possibility that landslide risk could increase again, especially during heavy rainfall, as has been seen in recent incidents. Residents are encouraged to review the Province’s Get prepared for a landslide webpage for important preparedness information.
“I want to share deep gratitude to the organizations and members of the CCRD community who came together to support Martin Valley and Ocean Falls during the recent flooding and landslide events. I especially want to thank the residents of Martin Valley and Ocean Falls for their patience and understanding during this stressful time.
We would not have been able to meet this moment without help from the Ocean Falls Improvement District, Cariboo Regional District, the Williams Lake First Nation, Old Bank Inn and Family, and so many other provincial and local partners.” – Jayme Kennedy, Board Chair and Area C Director, CCRD
CCRD will continue to make sand and sandbags available via the Ocean Falls Improvement District, as needed, to mitigate current and future flooding.
The Central Coast Regional District respectfully acknowledges that the community of Ocean Falls and Martin Valley are located within the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Heiltsuk Nation and Kitasoo/Xai’Xais Nation, who have cared for these lands and waters since time immemorial. We recognize and respect their enduring relationship with the land and remain committed to working in partnership and with respect as we support the safety and well-being of all communities in the region.
