EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – 2026 GENERAL LOCAL ELECTION & ASSENT VOTING

Election Officials Required – Electoral Areas A, B, C, D & E

The Central Coast Regional District (CCRD) is recruiting Election Officials to help deliver the 2026 General Local Election (Electoral Area Directors and School Trustees) and Assent Voting in all CCRD Electoral Areas. Paid positions are available across every electoral area.

VOTING LOCATIONS AND STAFF POSITIONS

Electoral Area A (General Voting Denny Island)
*A special voting opportunity will be held for Ocean Falls and Wuikinuxv 3 voting place staff
Electoral Area B (Bella Bella) 4 voting place staff
Electoral Area C (Tweedsmuir West to Augsburg) 5 voting place staff
Electoral Area D (Augsburg West to Town Reserve) 5 voting place staff
Electoral Area E (Bella Coola Townsite) 4 voting place staff

Each Electoral Area votes for its own Area Director and for the School Trustee(s) representing its trustee area (Coastal Communities or Bella Coola Valley), alongside the region-wide Assent Voting on the establishment of a 911 emergency call service.

POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Election Officials – registers and verifies electors, issues ballots, and assists voters under the direction of the Presiding Election Official.

KEY DATES

Early Oct. (date TBC) 1 hour – location/virtual – Mandatory Training Session
October 7, 2026 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Advance Voting (Bella Coola only)
October 17, 2026 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., plus ballot count and close-out – General Voting Day

QUALIFICATIONS

At least 16 years of age
Legally entitled to work in Canada
Able to remain politically neutral and refrain from any campaign activity or candidate endorsement while serving as an Election Official
Available for the full shift on assigned voting day(s) and for the mandatory training session
Comfortable with basic administrative tasks (forms, counting, recordkeeping); prior election experience is an asset but not required
Good communication skills and the ability to work respectfully with a diverse public
Resident of, or willing and able to travel to, the relevant electoral area for the voting day(s)

WAGE

Election Official: $25/hour, including for attendance at the mandatory training session
