HWY 20 Traveler Information – UPDATE

Traveler Information

Highway 20 is now open in both directions. The majority of Evacuation Orders and Alerts across the west Chilcotin have been lifted as of September 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM, reflecting improving conditions.

While access has improved, caution is still advised:

  • BC Wildfire Service crews and equipment may continue to be active along the highway.
  • Displaced livestock (cattle and horses) and wildlife may be present on or near the roadway. Please slow down and drive carefully.

Travellers should remain prepared for delays or reduced visibility due to smoke and continue to monitor updates for any changes.

For current highway status and conditions, please visit DriveBC.ca.

For the latest Evacuation Alerts and Orders, see the Cariboo Regional District.

Travellers planning to visit Tweedsmuir Provincial Park are reminded to check the latest status at BC Parks – Tweedsmuir Provincial Park as portions of the park remain closed due to wildfire-related safety concerns.

  • Carry extra water, food, and supplies.
