Bella Coola Water System – Line Flushing

Annual Water Flushing Update
Waterline Flushing Notice – Chlorine Disinfection

Starting Friday, April 24, 2026 waterline flushing and disinfection will be conducted using chlorine. During this period, you may notice a chlorine taste or odour in your tap water
We expect the flushing process to be completed by Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Some residual chlorine may remain temporarily but will gradually dissipate.
The water is monitored so that it does not exceed 2 mg/L (ppm) of chlorine. The water is safe for consumption despite the odour. Health Canada has not received reports or identified studies that show adverse health effects in humans from consuming water with high chlorine levels as high as 50 mg/L (ppm} over a short period of time.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
