The Central Coast Regional District (CCRD) Emergency Management Program is actively monitoring localized flooding in the Bella Coola Valley, including impacts along Highway 20, including side roads and Heckman Pass (the “Hill”).
Reports indicate localized flooding along roadways and low-lying areas in the Bella Coola Valley, with a closure on Highway 20 at Heckman Pass due to rock falls. Conditions may change as rainfall continues and additional information becomes available.
The CCRD Emergency Management Program is working closely with the Nuxalk Nation Emergency Management Program to coordinate messaging, share information, and support community preparedness. We are also in contact with provincial partners, including the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, River Forecast Centre, and Emergency Management and Climate Readiness, to monitor conditions and coordinate response if needed.
The CCRD will continue to assess the situation and will share verified updates as they become available.
