Gleaning Programs

Gleaning Programs in the Bella Coola valley exist for four reasons:

  • assist fruit and berry growers with picking,
  • protect the food security of a remote community,
  • help alleviate food stress in a community where many residents live in poverty, and
  • to keep bears and people safe during harvest season.

For more information on gleaning, contact the Bella Coola Valley Sustainable Agriculture Society.

If you have an encounter with wildlife that seems potentially unsafe for either you or the animal, please immediately call the RAPP line at 1-877-952-RAPP or #7277 on the Telus Mobility network.
