Job Description
The Central Coast Regional District (CCRD) is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative professional to join our team as Deputy Director of Financial Administration (DDFA). This key position supports the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in delivering high-quality financial services across the district.
The DDFA reports to the Chief Financial Officer and responsible for overseeing payroll, benefits, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial reporting. The role also contributes to budgeting, policy development, and staff support. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong analytical and communication skills who thrives in a dynamic public sector environment.
Key Responsibilities
•    Manage payroll, benefits administration, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.
•    Oversees year-end process, including financial statement preparation, reconciliations, regulatory reporting, and cost allocations.
•    Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and reconciliations.
•    Support the CFO in budget development, monitoring, and forecasting.
•    Assists with audits by providing back up information, explanation of processes and responding to and resolving issues raised by the auditor on an annual basis. 
•    Assist with grant reporting and claims for funding programs.
•    Provide guidance to staff on financial procedures and compliance.
•    Conduct financial research and draft reports, briefing notes, and presentations.
•    Contribute to the development of financial policies and internal controls.
•    Other duties as assigned.
•    Acts as the Chief Financial Officer in the absence of the CFO or at the request of the CFO or Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
Qualifications
•    Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field.
•    Professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred.
•    Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in financial administration, ideally in local government.
•    Experience with payroll and benefits administration is required.
•    Strong understanding of public sector accounting standards and financial legislation.
•    Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Additional Information
•    This position is subject to a three-month probationary period.
•    Preference will be given to candidates residing within the Central Coast Regional District.
•    Remote work arrangements may be considered.
•    While remote work arrangements may be considered, the successful candidate must be willing and available to work in the office on a temporary basis at the request of the Chief Financial Officer.
•    The Regional District will be placing candidates on Step 1 or 2 of our wage grid to start ($72,548/76,175)
