Evacuation Alert – Martin Valley (Ocean Falls, B.C.)

The Central Coast Regional District has issued an Evacuation Alert for a portion of the Village of Martin Valley near Ocean Falls, B.C., due to heightened concern related to a nearby slope failure on Mount Caro Marion.

The Evacuation Alert area includes homes located between Highland Drive and Garden Drive, as outlined in the attached Evacuation Alert map and notice.

This alert is being issued out of an abundance of caution while the Ministry of Forests completes a geotechnical assessment. The Assessment is scheduled to take place on the afternoon of December 19, 2025, to better understand the potential hazard and risk to the community. Conditions may change quickly.

Residents in the Evacuation Alert area are advised to:

  • Be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice, with or without further notification from local authorities, Ocean Falls Volunteer Fire Department, or Deputy Emergency Program Coordinator
  • Prepare essential items, including medications, important documents, pets, and emergency supplies
  • Monitor official updates and follow directions from local authorities

At this time, no evacuation order has been issued; however, residents should remain alert and ready to act if conditions change.
